So, my Malabrigo Sock yarn arrived yesterday, and I am officially in love with it.
It seems to be yet another colour that my camera is struggling with though, so let me describe it to you.
This beautiful yarn, colour Arauncil, has the effect of an antique black. It has a creamy base, overdyed with black. This leaves the cream showing through, more in some places, less in others. It is akin to faded denim, only much, much nicer.
With it, I’m making myself a pair of Lacy Cable stockings. Here’s how far I’ve got:
Sometimes knitting is pure happiness!

Hi there Princess Pea,
I found your blog for the first time to day and it was one of those weird Ravelry experiences where you realise that so many projects you’ve seen scattered around the ravelry-verse have all been made by the same person. Your kidsilk cardigan and especially your ‘Joy’ have both inspired me to make my own. I have been to 3 yarn shops today trying to track down the yarn for the fair isle beret without success – hopefully I’ll find some in London at the weekend!
I think you should treat yourself to some new boots to go with these!
Oh yummm that malabrigo sock looks good enough to eat. Those are going to be some beautiful socks!
WOW! I had no idea Malabrigo did sock yarn. No idea at all. I was blissfully ignorant. Now I’m insanely envious.
They will be beautiful.
Yeah it can. That yarn looks incredible, now I’m going to have to make more socks. The socks look great, too. This is definitely an enabling post!
Oh that yarn – that yarn! It is incredible, and you are right, the colour is just amazing. Wow!
Mmmmm malabrigo – goodness I want some of that now! Will the greed never end. Looks like a perfect match of yarn and pattern, just beautiful.
that yarn looks delicious! And the socks look great too.
that yarn is beautiful in the skein, but even more beutiful knit up. great yarn/project match!
Those look fantastic!
Gorgeous! Both the yarn and the socks. Is the yarn as yummy as I hear it is?
ah! its wonderful and i agree with amanda you need to treat yourself with anykind of footwear- boots would be most perfect
Have been lurking your blog for awhile. I love that stocking pattern, it’s now on my to do list. Thanks for the link. Love the look of your stocking in progress.
It looks lovely yarn … beautiful socks you have made.
I am loving that sock yarn colorway. I’m looking forward to seeing your socks finished!
I have yet to try Malabrigo anything – I feel like I missing out! Your yarn looks great, love the color. The socks are gorgeous.
Beautiful photos of lovely socks. When will they create a digital camera setting for color-accurate photos of yarn and knitted items? My camera has “Food,” “Sports,” “Candlelight,” “Party,” two “Baby” settings, and more. But nothing says “Yarn” and I can never seem to get the color true.
That looks like an amazing pattern, and you are knitting them up beautifully! Envious of the Malabrigo sock yarn as well…
